Hello, my name is Maria Contreras!
Data Analyst & Indoor Cycling Instructor.
As a Data Analyst, my actions align into building my capabilities to put the data available to use communicating actionable fidings and supporting decision making. I have experience analyzing and creating data visualizations in Python, R, Tableau, SQL and Excel.
I hold a BSc. in Geophysical Engineering and I'm a part-time student in the MSc. program in Data Analytics at Georgia Tech. My background has allowed me to develop a data-driven mindset, initially with seismic and geophysical data and next in other areas such as finance, healthcare, supply chain, etc.
While working as Junior R&D engineer, i learned that improvement opportunities can be pointed out and answers can be given without having a specific question to start with. Following, my problem-solving approach allow me to complete sucessfully my assingments and tasks as a CSR in healthcare with limited resources.
As an indoor cycling instructor, I thrive helping the riders to achive the goals they bring to the studio. These objectives vary from fitness improvement to just disconnecting for 45 minutes. As I lead a class it's my aim that everyone has the best experience.

Bachelor’s Thesis: Seismic attributes in carbonate reservoirs – A case of study in Barinas
- Conditioned the seismic data and improved its quality to extract an accurate interpretation from seismic attributes using Opendtect.
- Compared different post-stack algorithms to be applied in carbonate reservoirs and their relationship with the geological geometry and well logs of the target area to suggest a perforation well site.

Junior R&D Geophysical Engineering

- Analyzed seismic ambient vibration data from 100+ locations using near surface shear wave velocities (Vs30) to assess seismic hazard and implement results in municipal ordinances for urban planning and local risk performance in the cities of the stage development: Guarenas and Guatire.
- Supervised field outing activities with two interns for 4 months to collect data for Vs30 site classification applying MASW (Multi Channel Analysis of Surface Waves).
- Compiled 6 months of recorded data from 10+ seismological stations to structure a research project for interns prospects.
- Performed quality control test to field surveying equipment such as: GPR, gravimeter, REF TEK seismic recorder and geophones.
